The Mayor of San Antonio, Texas has issued a Proclamation
making June 22, 2002 "Wooden Nickel Day"

This Wooden Nickel is 13 feet 4 inches in diameter and 5.5 inches thick.
That is about 108 times the diameter of a standard Wooden Nickel It is solid wood,
made from 6x6 lumber, and weighs about 2,500 pounds
That is enough wood to make about 400,000 standard Wooden Nickels.
(Enough wood for about 3 weeks of our Wooden Nickel production)

On March 19, 2002 we had the 'groundbreaking' for
the World's Largest Wooden Nickel.
The design was laser printed on a transparency, and then projected onto the Wooden Nickel at night.
The design was then traced, and painted the next day.
Drilling hole nine feet deep for telephone poles. Inserting the second pole.
Both poles are ready, guy wires are anchored. 6x6 lumber spread out.
The bottom half of the steel retaining ring has been attached to the telephone poles.
